Journal of ERB Submission Guidelines

Original submissions to this journal are invited from policy-makers, academics, teachers, religious leaders and clergy, NGO representatives, and others with an interest in the field. The acceptance of a journal article does not imply acceptance of its views necessarily by the Alliance of Civilizations and its Group of Friends Member countries.

Length

Scholarly Articles may not exceed 5000 words (including references); Short Notes may not exceed 1,500 words; Book reviews may not exceed 1, 000 words; and Letters to the Editor may not exceed 500 words.

Format

Manuscripts must be typed in at least 12-point type, with margins of 1 inch (4 cm) on top, bottom and right and left sides. Manuscripts must also be double-spaced. They should be accompanied by an abstract of not more than 100 words (except for Short Notes, Book Reviews, and Letters to the Editor), and sent electronically to the Submit an Article link.  Only the cover page must contain the title of the paper, author name(s) and contact details (including a working electronic mail address), institutional affiliation and date of submission.  Subsequent pages may only include the title and avoid using material in the text or footnotes by which it may be possible to identify the author.

Inclusive Writing

As the subject of religions and beliefs is a sensitive one, care should be taken in the rhetoric and content of the writing.  Writing should be inclusive by utilizing appropriate terms and free from bias, whether against a specific religion, multiple religions, or those who do not believe in any religion.

Referencing Style

It is advisable to use the latest edition of the Chicago Manual of Style for preparation of manuscripts.  Quick tips on reference style are available from the Alliance on request. However, contributors are solely responsible to accurately document their articles.

Copyright

The Alliance of Civilizations is not responsible for any violations of copyright by the authors. After publication in the Journal of Education about Religions and Beliefs, authors are welcome to use the article in other ways but with due acknowledgment of its publication in the Journal of ERB.
